** CONTESTANTS START HERE **
How to Compete:
This page contains everything you need to know about competing for the Gushcloud and UBL Small Business Marketing Blog Outreach Blogging Contest SMBContest Cash and Non-Cash Prizes. To keep this simple, only the steps required to compete in the contest are published here. For additional details, see the Participants page.
1) Register as a Participant:
- Register to be an author here. (Click this link, Enter a username and email address and click register.)
- Check your email for the login page, username and password. If you don’t see it in your inbox, check your spam folder as it is more likely to be there than in your inbox.
- Log-in using the information emailed to you and fill in your profile. Many of the fields are optional so just fill in what you understand. If you have questions contact Gail for assistance.
NOTE: Because of spammers, you will not be able to submit a post
until your account is upgraded to author.Leave a comment in this post OR contact Gail directly for access.
2) Write a post on your own blog about the contest:
- On your own blog, share with your readers why you’re participating in this contest, what you hope to get out of it, and why they may want to compete, too. Link to this page and/or the about SMBcontest page so your readers can find out more about the contest.
- Your post must include a list of the sponsors with hotlinks to their sites to make it easy for your readers to click through and see what each sponsor that interests them has to offer. We encourage you to visit our sponsors so that you can learn more about them. You can do this now or later during the contest. To make it easy for you to include the sponsors, just copy this code, switch from visual to html editor and paste it into your post where you want it. If you need assistance contact Gail.
3) Write your contest posts:
Your posts must ‘Share Your Best Small Business Advice’
or be about any of our sponsors, their products or services.
- Use the login information you received when you registered. The login page is here.
- If you are not familiar with WordPress you can write your posts in your own blog, save them as drafts (do not publish), switch to html view, click select all and copy your entire post.
- Point at posts and select “Add New”.
- Write your post as you usually do in your own blog directly on this blog OR switch to html view and paste the post you wrote into the new post you created here.
- Adding images or a video makes a good post into a great post. Be sure to only use images you created yourself, photographs you took or can provide written permission to use, or that you obtain from Free Digital Photos (Windows Only) or these Free Stock Photos.
- Click Submit for Review. You CAN edit your posts after you click Submit for Review, but will not be able to edit them after they are published, so be sure to proof read them. is
- You may write as many entry posts as you wish. Depending on how many bloggers participate and what they choose to write about, multiple posts will probably be required to win the cash prizes. One post about any non-cash prize enters you in a separate contest for that prize.
The odds of winning non-cash prizes will depend on how
many other bloggers choose that particular prize.Your odds of winning non-cash prizes are very high compared
to most contests, so do be sure to review all of them. There could be prizes you would really love to have that
only have a few entries competing so don’t miss out!
Post Guidelines:
- Guest posts must be at least 900 words, not to exceed 2000 words.
- You may have as many links as you wish in the body of the content. However, please limit links to your projects or websites to your bio. Relevant affiliate links are allowed, but must be disclosed and are subject to review.
- Including at least one image near the beginning of the post so that it is visible without scrolling is highly recommended. If you do not know how to add images, select one to use and then contact Gail who will show you one-on-one how to add images. This is avaluable skill every blogger can use to improve their own blog. You must be sure to only use images you created yourself, photographs you took or can provide written permission to use, or that you obtain from Free Digital Photos or these Free Stock Photos.
- You must fill out your bio and have a Gravatar. Either a photo of yourself or a logo is permitted.
4) Promote Your Entry Posts:
We have made special arrangements with several sites to enable bloggers to promote not only their entry posts but their own blogs as well. Because these are so beneficial to you and we don’t want you to miss out, we are making it mandatory for participants to create and use accounts on these services. We sincerely believe you will keep using them long after the contest is over if we can just get your to try them out.

Hi, well I’m bit confused. Can you tell me clearly where should write these post. Just please whether what I have understood is right or not ??
1. On my blog i should write a post regarding this Contest with all Sponsor links. Right ??
2. Write a blog post with topic ” Share Your Best Small Business Advice ” on your blog. ??
3. Now where to write about the Sponsors products and Service for both the Cash and Non Cash Sponsors ??
4. Now which are articles I need to promote and give Social Campaigns with your service like BlogEngage and etc etc which you are offering free for Contestants. ??
Please have patience to answer all these
Sorry to waste your time.
Hello Shathyan and thank you so much for asking. Yes, you write a post on your own blog ABOUT the contest with the sponsor links and then you write all your other posts here. They will be published here and then after they are judged they may be republished on relevant sites to benefit you even more. (Those that are will be deindexed here so there will be no duplicate content issue.)
Because this contest could get really huge, the posts on this site are the ones that will count towards the prizes so that it is easier for the judges to judge them quickly. The last contest similar to this I managed judges had to read 39 posts and I anticipate far more than that so we need to make it fast for those volunteers who will be giving so much of their time to this good cause.
Regarding promotion, what I recommend is that you add links to your contest posts near the top of your post ABOUT the contest on your own site and then promote them all. To make that much easier for all participants JustRetweet and EasyRetweet are giving free credits to our bloggers.
You can use them to promote any combination of posts – and obviously you would want to promote the one on your own blog and send yourself new readers – so if you have your links to your entry posts here at the top of that post and encourage your readers to comment in and share your entries you benefit your own blog and increase your chances to win. This is because your own readers who already know and love you are the most likely people to comment and share your entry posts.

P.S. When you comment I encourage you to always take advantage of the links – at least when you’re commenting in any blog that offers them. Here we offer Keywords in the name field so you can get your preferred anchor text and it seemed strange that you didn’t even use a URL at all?
While some blogs make dislike that, most will generally always allow a link to a blog that has real content and isn’t covered up in ads or in a bad neighborhood like adult content, p.ills or gam.blin.g. (I do that so the spammers who search on keywords don’t see them.

Gail,
Just wanted to let you know I stopped by here and took a peak. It seems really interesting.

You state that “multiple posts will probably be required to win the cash prizes.” Why? The scoring information posted on the participants page makes it appear that each post competes separately. Am I missing something?

I think this just means you can enter multiple contest articles in an attempt to increase your odds of winning, so yes your contest articles are competing with each other, but if you have 3 well written articles you may have better odds of one of them reaching a better score than relying on a single article (unless you are the uber lucky and strike gold in the judges eyes and it happens to go viral on social media).
Many other sites have the same “you can enter multiple contest articles” like Blog Engage Guest blogging contests as well.
Hello Gail,
What an incredible opportunity! I plan on checking into this further.

Gail this is great and I’m glad that I follow you on Twitter and found out about this. I feel everyone should try their hand at this, if for no other reason than the experience and knowledge that will be gained.
